The Indian cricket team is set to play three ODIs and five T20Is in Australia, beginning October 19.
Despite the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from India’s T20I squad, Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that tickets for the upcoming five-match T20I series are already sold out. The T20I at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday, October 31, in particular, has seen all tickets snapped up.
This sell-out is remarkable considering that Kohli and Rohit, two of India’s most celebrated players, retired from T20 internationals after India’s victorious 2024 ICC T20 World Cup campaign and will not feature in the series.
Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team will take part in five T20Is following the three-ODI series starting on October 19.
“Over 175,000 Tickets Sold in 13 Days” – CA CEO Todd Greenberg

Public allocations for Sydney and Manuka Ovals have sold out, while the Adelaide ODI and Gabba T20I are nearly full, with under 5,000 seats left for each venue. CA CEO Todd Greenberg highlighted that this overwhelming demand reflects the unmatched appeal of the India-Australia rivalry.
“The massive turnout expected for the Melbourne T20I further underscores the incredible interest in this series. We’re delighted to see fans embracing the Australia vs India contest with such enthusiasm, and we are committed to delivering a world-class experience on and off the field. Selling over 175,000 tickets with 13 days still to go before the first ODI in Perth is phenomenal. It speaks volumes about the intensity of the rivalry and the passion of cricket fans across the country,” Greenberg told the Times of India.
Meanwhile, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that Shubman Gill will take over as India’s ODI captain from Rohit Sharma, starting with the Australia series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to return to India colors for the three ODIs against Australia, marking their first ODI appearances since India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in March.
