Legendary Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram was recently honoured with a life-size statue at Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad, Pakistan. Unveiled in April 2025, the tribute aimed to celebrate Akram’s legacy, depicting him in his iconic bowling action, donning Pakistan’s 1999 ICC World Cup jersey. However, the statue’s unusual facial features triggered widespread amusement and confusion online.
After a photo of the statue went viral, social media users on platform X erupted with reactions, trolling the sculpture for its lack of resemblance to the cricketing great. One user humorously remarked, “Wasim Akram as modelled by Sylvester Stallone,” comparing the statue’s face to the Hollywood actor. The statue has since become the center of memes and jokes, leaving fans questioning the craftsmanship behind the tribute.
