His innings played a vital role in helping Chennai Super Kings post 202/4 in 20 overs, which eventually helped them beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs. Suresh Raina received the Player of the Match award for his 84 runs and a wicket, while Dhoni’s innings in the last over caught everyone’s attention.

Dhoni said in a post-match interview, “As the match progressed, the wicket got very good. Later there was more dew on the ground and the ball was coming on well. I tried to hit and it worked. I think credit goes to the wicket. As you see these days, boundaries are not very long in T20. It was very entertaining for the people of Ranchi and the support of the people for Chennai Super Kings was also tremendous.”
