Pat Cummins’ Dominance Destroys Delhi Capitals’ Top Order

Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins tore apart the Delhi Capitals’ top order on Monday in Hyderabad. SRH captain won the toss and opted to bowl. Cummins dismissed Delhi’s opener, Karun Nair, off the first delivery. He then removed Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel.

Cummins opened the bowling for SRH, delivering a good-length ball outside off on the first delivery. Nair, rooted to the crease, played a weak shot and got caught by wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. Cummins resumed his spell in the third over and removed Du Plessis with the first ball.

He sent a short-length delivery on middle and leg, and Du Plessis edged it through to Kishan, departing for three runs off eight balls.

In the first ball of the fourth over, Cummins struck again, with DC collapsing to 15/3 in 4.1 overs. He delivered a good-length ball down leg, and Porel got a leading edge that was easily caught by Kishan, sending him back for eight runs off ten balls. DC’s batters collapsed under pressure from SRH bowlers as Jaydev Unadkat removed KL Rahul for 10 off 14 balls. The Indian pacer bowled a full delivery on the off side, and Rahul edged it to the right of the wicketkeeper for a catch. Meanwhile, Harshal Patel removed DC skipper Axar Patel for six.

Harshal bowled a full-length delivery around off, and Axar played too early, skewing the shot to wide mid-off.

SRH’s Playoff Hopes Rely on Luck

SRH’s chances of making the playoffs now depend on luck. Even if they maintain a winning streak in their remaining matches, they still need other results to go their way. Their strategy has not worked this season, and new acquisition Mohammed Shami has failed to impress. He also set the record for most runs conceded by an Indian bowler in IPL history, leaking 74 runs in four overs against Punjab Kings, the second-most expensive spell in IPL history.
