MS Dhoni reveals the lighter side of the 'complete entertainment package' as Virat Kohli always gives it his all.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has opened up about Virat Kohli’s personality, describing him as a very entertaining individual. The two have shared a close bond over the years and are considered among the greatest captains in Indian cricket history. While Dhoni led India to three ICC trophies, Kohli is credited with transforming the Indian team into a dominant force in Test cricket.

After Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014, Kohli took over as Test captain and later assumed leadership of all three formats following Dhoni’s step down from white-ball captaincy in 2017. Kohli has often acknowledged Dhoni’s mentorship during the early stages of his career.

Dhoni retired from international cricket in August 2020 but continues to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli, on the other hand, has ended his T20I and Test careers but remains active in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

Virat Kohli Is Truly Entertaining, Says MS Dhoni

At a recent event, MS Dhoni praised Virat Kohli for being highly entertaining, highlighting his diverse talents such as singing, dancing, and mimicry. “Virat is an excellent singer, a fantastic dancer, great at mimicry, and incredibly funny. When he’s in the mood, he’s truly entertaining,” Dhoni remarked.

Interestingly, when Kohli stepped down as Test captain in 2022, he shared that Dhoni was the only former teammate who reached out to console him during that difficult time.

“Here’s something I want to share: after I resigned as Test captain, only one person I’d played with before messaged me — and that was MS Dhoni. Many people have my number, but despite all the advice and comments on TV, none of them reached out,” Kohli revealed.

Recently, both Dhoni and Kohli featured in IPL 2025. Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched the title by defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final, while Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) struggled throughout the season and finished last on the points table.
