Digvesh Rathi dismissed Abhishek Sharma for 59 runs during match 61 of IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). LSG and SRH faced off on Monday, May 19, in the 61st match of IPL 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. During the game, LSG spinner Digvesh Rathi and SRH opener Abhishek Sharma were involved in a heated exchange.
Chasing a massive target of 206 runs, SRH opener Abhishek Sharma went on an aggressive rampage, smashing a quickfire half-century in just 18 balls. However, in the eighth over, spinner Digvesh Rathi managed to dismiss him for 59.
Following the dismissal, Rathi performed his signature notebook celebration, which appeared to provoke Sharma. As Sharma walked off the field, tensions flared and the two players got into a verbal spat. LSG captain Rishabh Pant and the on-field umpires quickly intervened to defuse the situation.

Interestingly, Rathi has already been penalized by the IPL disciplinary committee for his notebook celebration. He has faced fines twice for his send-off gesture. Abhishek Sharma ,The first time, he was fined 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point. On the second occasion, he was fined 50% of his match fee and was handed a second demerit point.
Earlier in the match, SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bowl first. LSG put up a strong total of 205/7 in the first innings. Openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram played impressive innings, both scoring half-centuries, Abhishek Sharma ,while Nicholas Pooran contributed a solid 45 runs. Despite the big target, SRH made a strong start and looked well on track to chase it down.
