Narayan Jagadeesan Misses Double Century as South Zone Posts 536

Narayan Jagadeesan fell just three runs short of a well-deserved double century as South Zone reached a commanding first innings total of 536 in their Duleep Trophy semi-final against North Zone on Friday. Despite a slow second day, South Zone added 239 runs while losing all remaining wickets across 88.2 overs.
Jagadeesan scored 197 off 352 balls, hitting 16 boundaries and three sixes before being run out. The rest of the South batters maintained the innings without accelerating, contributing to a respectable total.
North Zone now has two full days to chase 537 and secure a place in the final.

Jagadeesan, who had added only three boundaries to his overnight 13, was distinctly unlucky when the burly Bhui sold a dummy to the Tamil Nadu keeper-batter. He pushed a ball towards point in pursuit of a quick single, only to find the Andhra man rooted to his crease.
In the post-lunch session, Bhui briefly came alive, hitting off-spinner Sahil Lotra for a four and a six over long-on. However, when left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu (5/125 in 47.2 overs) entered the attack, Bhui fell meekly, edging one to rival skipper Ankit Kumar.
Brief Scores: South Zone 1st Innings 536 in 169.2 overs (Narayan Jagadeesan 197, Tanay Thyagarajan 58, Nishant Sindhu 5/125) vs North Zone.
