IGPL Gains Strong Backing with Yuvraj’s Inclusion, Ambitious Expansion, and Inclusive Vision to Transform Indian Golf

The Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) has recently secured support from the Sports Ministry, and with Yuvraj Singh joining its elite board, the league is poised to revolutionize the golfing ecosystem in India.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Yuvraj said, “Joining the IGPL team is an exciting opportunity to promote golf in a fresh, dynamic way. Though globally popular, golf remains a niche sport in India. A fast-paced format is exactly what’s needed to attract wider audiences, more athletes, and make golf more spectator-friendly. This tournament will nurture Indian golfers, offering them greater development opportunities. We are confident IGPL will popularize golf among the masses and provide a strong platform for players to enhance their skills and compete.”
Uttam Yuvraj Singh Mundy, IGPL CEO, highlighted the league’s global vision: “IGPL isn’t just India’s league—it’s India’s gift to global golf. From its very first year, we will take the tour internationally, enabling our players to compete worldwide and inviting international golfers to experience India’s emerging golf scene.”
Yuvraj Singh In a push for inclusivity, IGPL has partnered with the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) to promote women’s golf by providing structured, high-visibility platforms for female athletes. IGPL will host India’s first professional league tour featuring both men and women competing together on the same platform, across franchise teams and regional circuits. This integrated format redefines golf in India, championing inclusive excellence and athlete empowerment.
Yuvraj Singh: To strengthen the ecosystem and nurture rising talent, the IGPL tour will take place across various cities from September to December, leading up to the league’s inaugural edition. Mentors and golf legends will be onboarded to guide franchise teams, ensuring engaging competition and valuable exposure for all athletes.
Additionally, IGPL is partnering with schools and universities nationwide to develop grassroots talent and funnel promising players into the IGPL Tours, fostering the future of Indian golf.
