Former India cricketer Madan Lal criticized Mohsin Naqvi, expressing disappointment over the ACC chief’s theatrics and conduct.
Asia Cup 2025 Trophy Controversy: India Snubs ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi

The 2025 Asia Cup trophy saga has taken a bizarre turn. ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi—also PCB chairman and Pakistan’s interior minister—insists that if India wants the trophy and medals, skipper Suryakumar Yadav must collect them from the ACC office in Dubai. Meanwhile, the BCCI has reportedly rejected this condition.
The controversy erupted when the Indian team chose to snub Naqvi during the post-match presentation following their win against Pakistan in the final. Refusing to receive the trophy from him, the Indian players left without their medals or the trophy. The presentation was called off after Pakistan players received their runners-up medals, and captain Salman Agha dramatically threw the cheque on the ground.
Madan Lal slams Mohsin Naqvi

Former India cricketer Madan Lal expressed strong disapproval of ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi’s theatrics in the Asia Cup final, slamming his behaviour as inappropriate for fans and live television. Speaking to India Today, Lal said, “All these things should not have happened. When players lift that trophy in front of the fans, or on live TV, that is when it looks good.”
Dissecting Naqvi’s demand that Suryakumar Yadav travel to Dubai to collect the trophy, Lal questioned, “Why should Suryakumar Yadav go to the Asian Cricket Council office to collect the trophy? India won, you should have let them celebrate with the trophy on the ground. But of course, he does not have any knowledge, in their country everything is decided by the armed forces.”
