Liam Dawson will be returning to the Test side after an eight-year gap, having last played a Test against South Africa in July 2017. The left-arm orthodox spinner replaces Shoaib Bashir, who sustained a finger injury during the third Test at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. Due to this injury, Bashir has been ruled out of the remainder of the series against India. Dawson earned his recall following an impressive showing in England’s 2025 County Championship.
