In the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajat Patidar contributed 26 runs. The match took place at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB emerged victorious by six runs, claiming the IPL 2025 title and securing their place in IPL history. After the win, RCB captain Rajat Patidar dedicated the trophy to Virat Kohli.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB posted a total of 190 for 9 wickets, falling short of the 200-run mark. Opener Phil Salt scored 16 runs, while Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 43 runs. Other notable contributions came from Mayank Agarwal (24), Rajat Patidar (26), Liam Livingstone (25), and Jitesh Sharma (24), who all batted well to build the innings.
During the chase, PBKS lost their captain Iyer early for just one run. Josh Inglis made 39 runs, and Shashank Singh remained unbeaten with 61 runs. Despite their efforts, PBKS could only manage 184 for 7 wickets by the final ball, falling short of the target.
Rajat Patidar: Virat Kohli Deserves the Trophy More Than Anyone Else

Following their victory, RCB captain Rajat Patidar expressed that Virat Kohli truly deserved the trophy above all others. Patidar also highlighted how valuable it was to captain the team under Kohli’s guidance. It’s worth noting that Kohli had played in all three IPL finals that RCB lost since 2009.
“For me, it was an incredible opportunity to lead the team under Virat Kohli. It has been a great learning experience. Like I said, he deserves the trophy more than anyone else — he and the fans. Everyone who supported the management, the support staff, and the players did a wonderful job. I want to say one thing to the fans — Ee sala Cup Namdu,” said the RCB skipper.
Reflecting on the RCB vs PBKS final, Patidar remarked that 190 runs was a strong total considering the slow pitch. He also praised Krunal Pandya and the bowling unit for their excellent performance defending the score.
“I felt 190 was a good target on this slow track. The bowlers executed their plans perfectly, which was a pleasure to watch. Whenever I felt pressure, I looked towards KP [Krunal Pandya]. And all our pacers — Bhuvi, Yash [Dayal], Josh Hazlewood — along with Romario [Shepherd], who came in and bowled crucial overs to take a breakthrough, did an exceptional job,” added the right-handed batter.
In the IPL 2025 season, Patidar ended as RCB’s third-highest run-scorer, accumulating 312 runs in 14 innings at an average of 24.0 and a strike rate of 143.77. His highest score was 64, including two half-centuries during the campaign. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli finished as the team’s top run-scorer with 657 runs.
