England recently announced a 14-player squad led by captain Ben Stokes for the first Test, India, which will begin on July 20 at Headingley in Leeds, marking the start of the five-match Test series between the two teams.

Josh Tongue took two wickets for England Lions in the first innings, though he was quite expensive with the ball, conceding 91 runs in 20.3 overs. In the second innings, he failed to take any wickets and gave away 27 runs in his four-over spell.
The 27-year-old fast bowler has appeared in three Tests for England so far. He made his international debut in June 2023 against Ireland and has claimed 12 wickets in his career to date, including a five-wicket haul in a single innings.
Meanwhile, the India A team holds a 184-run lead at stumps on day three of the ongoing second unofficial Test. India, Batting first, they posted a total of 348 runs in their first innings, with KL Rahul delivering a brilliant century.
Khaleel Ahmed’s four-wicket haul later helped bowl England Lions out for 327 runs. By the end of day three, India A had reached 163 for 4. The first unofficial Test between the two sides ended in a draw.
