However, in the second innings, while Gill (8) and Jaiswal (4) failed to deliver, Pant rose to the occasion once again, notching up another century. With this feat, the left-hander etched his name in the record books as the first Indian to score centuries in both innings of a Test match on English soil.

Rishabh Pant reached his century off 130 balls, hitting 13 fours and two sixes. After reaching his century, Pant attempted to accelerate but was dismissed for 118 runs off 140 balls. Meanwhile, KL Rahul also scored a century in the match’s second innings. Rahul and Pant put together a 195-run partnership for the fourth wicket, bringing the score to over 284/4 at the time Pant got out.

Earlier, in the first innings, India took a six-run lead after bowling England out for 465. Ollie Pope scored a century for the hosts, while pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered an impressive five-wicket haul for India.
