The final Super Four match of Asia Cup 2025 saw India face Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In a nail-biting encounter, India emerged victorious in the super over after Charith Asalanka’s side managed just two runs, which the Men in Blue chased on the very first ball.
India were sent in to bat first but had a shaky start as opener Shubman Gill fell cheaply for 4 in the second over. However, Abhishek Sharma delivered yet another scintillating performance, scoring his third consecutive half-century in the tournament and anchoring India’s innings with a brilliant 61.
Following Sharma, Tilak Varma (49) and Sanju Samson (39) contributed crucial runs, helping India post a formidable total of 202/5, becoming the first team to cross the 200-run mark in Asia Cup 2025.
Chasing 203, Sri Lanka suffered an early setback as Kusal Mendis was dismissed for a duck in the first over. But Pathum Nissanka (107) and Kusal Perera (58) rebuilt the innings with a spectacular 127-run partnership for the second wicket, dominating the Indian bowlers. Nissanka’s century put Sri Lanka firmly in control, and the match went down to the final over with 12 runs needed for victory.
