Indian Cricket Team Celebrates Asia Cup 2025 Victory Despite Trophy Delay. The Indian Cricket Team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, clinched a thrilling win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final. India secured a five-wicket victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 28th September, though the trophy was absent from the podium during celebrations.
In what was arguably the most entertaining match of the tournament, India showcased remarkable composure under pressure. The victory not only tested their character but also serves as a confidence booster ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
After winning the toss, India chose to field first and bowled Pakistan out for a modest 146. The spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel dominated the Pakistani batting lineup, claiming eight wickets collectively and reducing the opposition from 113/1 to 146 all out.
India’s chase began shakily, with top-order batsmen Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav dismissed for just 20 runs. However, Tilak Varma starred with an unbeaten 69*, anchoring the innings when it mattered most. Support from Sanju Samson (23) and Shivam Dube (33) ensured India crossed the finish line in the final over.
Thanks to a collective batting effort and stellar spin bowling, India secured their ninth Asia Cup title, further cementing their dominance in the tournament.
Mohsin Naqvi Takes Asia Cup Trophy Amid Controversy

What unfolded after the Asia Cup final grabbed widespread attention. The post-match presentation was delayed by nearly an hour, reportedly because several Pakistan players were reluctant to attend and arrived very late.
The controversy escalated when the Indian team was ready to receive the trophy. Mohsin Naqvi, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman and also Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), walked away, leading to the announcement that India would not be collecting their trophy at that moment.
Revealed: Why India Didn’t Receive the Asia Cup 2025 Trophy
The actual reason behind the incident has now come to light. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that India refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi but agreed to receive it from an official of the Emirates Cricket Board.
Saikia revealed that Mohsin Naqvi left with the trophy after Indian players declined to take it from him. He confirmed that strict action will follow. Speaking to ANI, he said:
“We decided not to take the Asia Cup trophy from the ACC chairman, who is also one of the main leaders of Pakistan. While we refused to accept it from him, it is unfortunate that he walked away with the trophy and medals. We hope they will be returned to India promptly.
“During the ICC conference in November in Dubai, we plan to launch a serious and strong protest against the actions of the ACC chairperson.”
Despite the absence of the trophy, Indian players shared celebratory pictures on social media, using trophy emojis. The team also celebrated on the podium, showcasing their joy even without the physical trophy.
