India Qualify for Asia Cup 2025 Final with Win over Bangladesh. India secured their spot in the final of the Asia Cup 2025 after defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs in their second Super Four clash. The thrilling encounter at Dubai International Stadium on Wednesday went down to the wire, setting up a knockout clash between Pakistan and Bangladesh, with the winner advancing to the final.
Asia Cup: Unlike their previous match, Indian openers Shubman Gill (29) and Abhishek Sharma (75) started cautiously, taking three overs to gauge the conditions. Once settled, they unleashed their shots, adding 55 runs in the last three overs of the powerplay to end it at 72. Their 77-run opening partnership ended when Gill fell to Rishad Hossain, but Abhishek continued to dominate, scoring his second consecutive half-century of the tournament and keeping the pressure on the bowlers.
Asia Cup: Following Abhishek’s dismissal, India struggled to accelerate. A reshuffled batting order offered little relief as they were reduced to 129 for five inside 15 overs. Hardik Pandya (38) then played a crucial cameo, helping India finish strongly at 168 for six.
Bangladesh’s chase got off to a shaky start with Tanzid Hasan Tamim falling in the second over. However, Saif Hassan (69) and Parvez Hossain Emon (21) steadied the innings, adding 42 runs for the second wicket and giving Bangladesh a decent platform in the powerplay.
The introduction of India’s spinners slowed the scoring, and quick wickets saw Bangladesh collapse to 87 for five. Despite the collapse, Saif continued to fight, keeping the Indians on edge until Jasprit Bumrah dismissed him in the 18th over. India then seized control, bowling Bangladesh out for 127. Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets as India sealed a 41-run victory.
