Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed, who featured in the Asia Cup 2025 last month, has stirred headlines by challenging former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan to a boxing match. In a video that is gaining traction on social media, Abrar expressed his desire to punch Dhawan, claiming the Indian star makes him angry.
The 27-year-old leg-spinner delivered a solid performance in the Asia Cup, taking six wickets in seven matches at an economy rate of 5.36. Pakistan, however, fell short in the final against India in Dubai.
Abrar Ahmed has also been included in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27, starting on October 12. The home campaign will also feature three T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa.
Abrar Ahmed Calls Out Shikhar Dhawan for a Boxing Match in Viral Clip

A video featuring Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter), showing him challenging former India opener Shikhar Dhawan to a boxing match. The footage, originally from June 2025, captures Ahmed in a conversation with Pakistani TV host Sara Baloch.
When asked, “Kaunsa aisa player hai duniya ka jo aap chahate hai ki apke saamne ho aur aap boxing karey, jispe bada gussa aata ho?” (Whom would you like to face in a boxing match? Who makes you really angry?), Abrar Ahmed replied, “Main chahta hu ki main boxing karu aur khada Shikhar Dhawan ho saamne” (I want to box with Shikhar Dhawan standing in front of me).
Dhawan, who retired from international cricket in 2024, has often been vocal in his support for the Indian Armed Forces and his criticisms of Pakistan. During the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 in August, he was among the players who refused to play against the Pakistan Champions.
Abrar Ahmed, who debuted internationally in 2022, has featured in 10 Tests, 11 ODIs, and 23 T20Is for Pakistan. With consistent performances across all formats in recent years, he has become a key figure in the national team.
