R Sai Kishore was part of the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for two IPL seasons. The Tamil Nadu spinner recently shared an interesting insight into MS Dhoni’s habits, including his well-known aversion to mobile phones. Sai Kishore joined CSK for the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) season at his base price of ₹20 lakh. However, despite being in the squad for two seasons, he did not get a chance to play any matches.
Even after retiring from international cricket in 2020, MS Dhoni continues to command the adoration of IPL fans, who chant his name throughout the games. A stalwart of the league since its inaugural edition in 2008, Dhoni has led CSK to five IPL titles.
He stepped down as captain in 2024, passing the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad, but resumed captaincy in IPL 2025 following Gaikwad’s injury. Despite Dhoni’s masterful leadership, CSK struggled in the season and finished at the bottom of the points table.
MS Dhoni Avoided Phones at the Ground, Reveals R Sai Kishore

Former teammate R Sai Kishore has highlighted MS Dhoni’s strict approach toward phones. Dhoni’s minimal presence on social media continues to intrigue cricket fans, standing in sharp contrast to the fast-paced, ever-changing world of the IPL.
Dhoni’s leadership is defined by simplicity, disciplined routines, and control over the controllable—principles that have helped him become one of cricket’s most successful captains.
Speaking on Provoke TV, Sai Kishore shared his insights on Dhoni’s approach to technology:
“I learned a lot from MS Dhoni. He would never carry his phone with him. He’d leave it in his hotel room and come to the matches fully detached. Watching him, I questioned whether constant involvement in social media was really necessary. His example truly inspired me,” Sai said.
