After winning the toss, Australia A captain Will Sutherland opted to bowl, handing India A the chance to bat first. The Indian innings began with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh as openers, while captain Shreyas Iyer came in at number three.
The opening pair had recently been in sensational form during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), representing Punjab Kings (PBKS). Prabhsimran Singh amassed 549 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of 160.52, including four half-centuries.
Priyansh Arya, in his IPL debut season, scored 475 runs across 17 games at an explosive strike rate of 179.94. His standout performance was a century (103) against five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Priyansh Arya Shines with the Bat for India A

India A got off to a flying start against Australia A thanks to an aggressive opening partnership between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. Prabhsimran contributed a quick 56 off 53 balls, featuring 6 fours and 2 sixes, as the duo put on 135 runs for the first wicket in just 21 overs before Prabhsimran fell to Tom Straker.
Priyansh Arya, however, continued the onslaught, crafting a brilliant 82-ball century in Kanpur. His innings included 11 fours and five sixes, ending just two balls after reaching his hundred when he attempted a long-range hit off Tanveer Sangha but missed.
From his very first over, the 24-year-old played with intent, punishing anything wide or overpitched. He launched Sam Elliot over the deep square-leg boundary for the first six of the match. After Todd Murphy had provided a solid start for the bowlers, Arya took control, smashing three boundaries off one over from the off-spinner. He reached his half-century in 60 balls and accelerated further, hitting his century in the next 22 deliveries.
This match marked Priyansh Arya maiden appearance for India A, having recently been added to the squad for the first ODI. Abhishek Sharma will replace him for the next two games in Kanpur.
