Abhishek Sharma didn’t hold back, explaining his on-field confrontations with Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf in the Asia Cup Super 4s clash.
Abhishek Sharma’s Masterclass Powers India Past Pakistan

Opening batter Abhishek Sharma showcased his class and talent against Pakistan on Sunday, producing a whirlwind 74 off 39 balls in the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4s clash at the Dubai International Stadium. His explosive innings left Salman Ali Agha’s side shell-shocked and helped India chase down 172 with six wickets in hand and seven balls to spare. Beyond the boundaries, Abhishek’s on-field duels with Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi captured everyone’s attention.
Sharma began India’s chase with a six off Shaheen, signaling he would not be intimidated. He later engaged in intense verbal exchanges with Haris Rauf but let his bat do the talking. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Abhishek said, “They were coming at us without any reason, and I thought the only way to respond was with my bat and a win for my team.”
Abhishek’s innings included six fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 189.74. He shared a 105-run opening stand with his close friend Shubman Gill, who contributed 47 off 28 balls, including eight fours. “We’ve been playing together since school days, and the chemistry shows,” Abhishek added. “Having support from the captain and coach is crucial, and today I wanted to deliver for my team after all the practice.”
Gill doesn’t hold back

Not just Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill also made his presence felt, taking on Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf from the non-striker’s end. Sharma appreciated his teammate’s aggression, saying, “I feel the way he was giving them back, I really enjoyed it on the other side.”
