Pakistan will play all of their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 matches in Sri Lanka.
The Pakistan Women’s team is reportedly set to skip the tournament’s opening ceremony in India. According to Geo News, neither captain Fatima Sana nor any other team representative will be present at the event.
The grand opening ceremony of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 is scheduled for September 30 in Guwahati, ahead of the tournament’s first match between India Women and Sri Lanka Women. Renowned Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal is set to perform during the ceremony.
This decision is likely linked to a recent agreement between India and Pakistan, under which both nations will avoid crossing borders for ICC events over the next three years. Tensions have escalated following the Pahalgam terror attack in April and Operation Sindoor in May, significantly straining bilateral relations.
Pakistan Women to Play All Matches in Colombo

If Pakistan advances to the semi-finals or final, those matches will also take place in Colombo. A key fixture sees Pakistan Women face India Women on October 5, while the tournament final is set for November 2.
Earlier this year, the Indian men’s team similarly avoided playing in Pakistan during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with all their matches held in Dubai.
The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will feature eight teams: India Women, Pakistan Women, Sri Lanka Women, Bangladesh Women, Australia Women, New Zealand Women, England Women, and South Africa Women, all competing for the prestigious title.
