Rishabh Pant has made headlines by scoring centuries in both innings of the ongoing Headingley Test. Renowned cricket commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes Pant has the potential to break Rahul Dravid’s record for the most Test centuries by an Indian in England during the 2025 tour. This remark followed Pant’s exceptional performance in the first Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds.
Rishabh Pant who is also the vice-captain of the Indian team, scored 134 runs in the first innings and followed it up with another brilliant knock of 118 in the second. With these twin tons, he became the first Indian batsman to score centuries in both innings of a Test match on English soil.
So far, Rishabh Pant has notched up four Test hundreds in England, including the two in the ongoing match. Rahul Dravid currently holds the record for the most Test centuries by an Indian in England, with six to his name.
Sanjay Manjrekar Backs Rishabh Pant to Surpass Rahul Dravid’s Test Record

Speaking on the show Match Centre Live on JioHotstar, former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar expressed confidence that Rishabh Pant can break Rahul Dravid’s record for the most Test centuries by an Indian in England during the ongoing five-match Test series. Manjrekar pointed out that Pant still has eight innings left in the series to achieve this feat.
“If you look at the stats — the most hundreds by Indians in Tests in England — Rahul Dravid leads with six. Now, Pant’s name has suddenly entered this elite group. There’s an interesting twist here — two Rahul’s in the mix: KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant,” Manjrekar said.
“By the time this series ends, Pant could equal or even surpass Rahul Dravid’s record. There are still four Tests remaining, which means potentially eight innings for Pant. He has already made a near-perfect start,” he added.
Manjrekar also praised Pant’s achievements considering he is a wicket-keeper batsman, which makes his record even more remarkable compared to other legends on the leaderboard.
“When we talk about batting achievements in England, scoring twin centuries, Pant is being compared with legends like Dilip Vengsarkar, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, and Sunil Gavaskar. What makes Pant’s record extraordinary is that he is also a wicketkeeper — that’s almost unbelievable,” Manjrekar remarked.
Meanwhile, Pant recently broke MS Dhoni’s record for the most Test centuries by a wicket-keeper batsman with his stellar performance in the Headingley Test. Pant now has eight Test centuries, surpassing Dhoni’s six.
Additionally, the left-handed batsman has also become the highest run-scorer among Asian wicket-keeper batsmen in the SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia), surpassing Dhoni’s tally.
