ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 Set to Begin with Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh Series. The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) is ready to return with its 2025–27 cycle, following a thrilling conclusion to the previous edition. South Africa lifted their maiden WTC title after defeating Australia in the final at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
The last cycle witnessed exceptional team performances and standout individual displays. ICC With the standard of cricket steadily rising, the new edition promises even more excitement and fierce competition.
The upcoming WTC cycle kicks off on 17th June, with Sri Lanka hosting Bangladesh for the opening Test at the Galle International Stadium.
As in previous editions, all nine participating teams will play six series three at home and three away. The top two teams in the points table will qualify for the final, continuing the format followed in the first three cycles.
ICC A total of 71 matches will be played in the WTC 2025-27. Australia, led by Pat Cummins, will play the most games (22), closely followed by England, who are scheduled for 21. The two sides will also renew their iconic rivalry in the Ashes later this year.
India, still in pursuit of their first WTC title after finishing runners-up twice, will play 18 matches in this cycle. Their campaign begins with a five-Test series against England, starting 20th June at Headingley in Leeds.
Defending champions South Africa will open their title defense with a two-match series against Pakistan in October. ICC Their first home series will be against Australia in September 2026.
