Current Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson reportedly wants to leave his franchise and there are rumours that he will be traded to Chennai Super Kings. Former Chennai Super Kings player Subramaniam Badrinath believes that one of the major reasons for Sanju Samson leaving Rajasthan Royals is Riyan Parag being seen as the captain. There have been several reports suggesting that Samson might leave Rajasthan Royals.
“I think Riyan Parag is the reason. If you pick him for captaincy, how can you expect a player like Samson to stay?” Badrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Badrinath also mentioned that Sanju Samson will be a like to like replacement for MS Dhoni if he joins the Yellow Army for IPL 2026. The former Indian cricketer also added that Samson can bat at the top three or four and he is not a player who can bat in the lower order.
He said, “If Sanju Samson comes to CSK, he can be a replacement for MS Dhoni. Samson is a batsman who can bat at the top three or four spots in the batting order. He may not fit in at number five or six in the playing XI. CSK is strong in these areas of the playing XI. Mhatre, Gaikwad and Brevis are all settled in their places.”
