With Sanju Samson still sidelined due to injury, Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued to impress with his batting skills on Thursday. Coming in as an Impact Sub to open the run-chase for RR alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, the 14-year-old sensation has already captivated fans and former players with his bold approach and big-hitting abilities at such a young age.
On Thursday, during RR’s clash with RCB in Bengaluru, Suresh Raina was left spellbound by Suryavanshi’s fearless approach to the game and couldn’t help but praise the young prodigy.
Suresh Raina on Vaibhav Suryavanshi

The former India cricketer, Suresh Raina, kicked off his analysis on Star Sports with a classic Bollywood song, Chota Bachcha Jaan Ke by Aditya Narayan from the 1996 film Masoom. Raina playfully sang, “Chota bacha jan ke, na koi aankh dikha na rey, Dubi dubi dab dab” (Little child, in your young life, you can’t see any rays with your eyes, submerged, submerged).
Raina went on to praise the 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, highlighting his temperament, fearless approach, game awareness, and calm demeanor, saying, “He is 14-years-old. His temperament, fearless approach, game awareness, and the calmness in his body language shows that he is a ripe player, he is ready. He is never scared.”
In a nail-biting match where RR chased 206 runs against RCB, they fell short at 195/9 after a late collapse. Suryavanshi, however, impressed with a quick 16 off 12 balls, hitting two sixes.
So far in the ongoing season, the India U-19 cricketer has scored 50 runs in two matches, with an impressive strike rate of 156.25.
Last year, he made his Ranji Trophy debut at just 12 years old, becoming the second-youngest player from Bihar to do so. In addition, he represented India in the 2024 ACC U-19 Asia Cup, where he played outstanding innings: 76 off 46 balls against UAE and 67 off 36 balls in the semi-finals against Sri Lanka.
