India is taking on the West Indies in the match that kicked off on Friday, October 10. After winning the toss, Indian captain Shubman Gill chose to bat first.
India fielded the same playing XI as in the first Test, while the West Indies made two changes: Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip came in, replacing Brandon King and Johann Layne.
Indian openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal got off to a solid start, putting together a 58-run partnership for the first wicket. Rahul looked in good form but was dismissed for 38, stumped by the opposition. Following his departure, Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings, helping India surpass the 200-run mark.
Why Are West Indies Players Wearing Black Armbands in the Second Test?

West Indies players were seen wearing black armbands as they took the field in the second Test, drawing the attention of cricket fans worldwide. The tribute is in honor of former West Indies cricketer Bernard Julien, who passed away last week.
Cricket West Indies shared on X (formerly Twitter):
“The players are wearing black armbands on day 1 as a tribute to former player Bernard Julien, who passed away last week. Julien was a member of the 1975 World Cup-winning team.”
Julien was part of the Clive Lloyd-led side that lifted the inaugural ICC Cricket World Cup in 1975. An accomplished all-rounder, he represented the West Indies in international cricket from 1973 to 1977, scoring 866 runs and taking 50 wickets across 24 Tests. In 12 ODIs, Julien claimed 18 wickets at an average of 25.72, while contributing 86 runs in eight innings.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Co. are targeting a series sweep in the second Test. India currently leads the two-match series 1-0 after an emphatic victory in the opening game by an innings and 140 runs.
