England have previously claimed the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup titles in 1973, 1993, 2009, and 2017. A 15-member England Women’s squad has been announced for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India, running from September 30 to November 2. This tournament will be the first ICC event for both head coach Charlotte Edwards and captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Former captain Heather Knight returns to the squad after missing recent months due to a tendon injury in her right hamstring. Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Sarah Glenn, who were absent during the series against India earlier this summer, are also back in England’s ODI lineup.
Sarah Glenn is among six players—and four specialist spinners—making their ICC ODI World Cup debut, forming a strong spin unit led by Sophie Ecclestone, the leading women’s ODI bowler.
ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 “It will be a huge challenge,” said Head Coach Charlotte Edwards.

As England aims to replicate its 2017 heroics, regular squad members Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley, Amy Jones, Charlie Dean, and Linsey Smith retain their spots. Edwards expressed her excitement at the squad announcement, highlighting both the honor of representing England and the challenge of competing in India.
“Playing for your country in a World Cup is one of the highest honors in sport, and I’m thrilled for all the players named. Like every global tournament, it will be a huge challenge, but if we play our best cricket, we can compete with anyone,” Edwards told the ECB.
“ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025: Given the conditions, we’ve opted for an extra spinner, and we’re fortunate to have such depth. It’s fantastic to welcome Sarah Glenn back, though that unfortunately leaves no room for Kate Cross, Maia Bouchier, or Alice Davidson-Richards.
“It’s also great to have Danni back; her strong domestic form will add dynamism and depth to our batting. Alongside Heather Knight, who we’re delighted to select, she’ll be a huge asset for us,” the head coach added.
The four-time ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup champions, having triumphed in 1973, 1993, 2009, and 2017, will be aiming to add another trophy to their collection.
