AUS vs SA 3rd ODI: Australia scored their second-highest ODI total while batting first and fell short of their all-time best by just four runs. Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head and Cameron Green hit brilliant centuries, while a 250-run stand for the first wicket put South Africa under pressure.

AUS vs SA 3rd ODI: Alex Carey ended Australia’s innings with an unbeaten half-century. AUS vs SA 3rd ODI: South Africa looked under pressure throughout

Chasing 400+ runs is always a mountain to climb, and South Africa’s openers looked under pressure right from the start, falling cheaply in no time. Temba Bavuma tried to respond with some aggressive shots, but his composure didn’t last long, leaving the hosts faltering at 50/4.

Tony de Zorzi and Dewald Brevis batted well for a while, putting on 57 runs, but with the required run rate rising, they had no choice but to take risks – both batsmen fell in the attempt, with Brevis very close to a half-century. The innings then fell apart completely, and what looked like control at 124/5 went completely awry as they crumbled for a paltry 155, losing the match by a big margin of 276 runs.

Keshav Maharaj became Player of the Series

Travis Head was named Player of the Match for his brilliant innings of 142 runs, while Keshav Maharaj was named Player of the Series for his excellent bowling throughout the series.
