Pakistan entered international cricket after the 1947 partition from India and have traditionally been a bowler-dominant side in Test cricket. Despite this, they have managed to score 500+ totals on 57 occasions. Of these, Pakistan won 26 matches and lost just four. Their first-ever 500+ total came against New Zealand in 1995 at Gaddafi Stadium.

Although West Indies may have lost some of their dominance in recent years, they were once the most formidable side in Test cricket. They have posted 500+ totals 67 times, winning 28 matches and losing just one. Their first 500+ innings came against England, while their highest-ever total is 790, scored against Pakistan in 1958.
