It is reported that India’s position was informed to the ACC before the final began, but an angry Naqvi left the ceremony and took the trophy with him. He made this statement during an interview with India Today.
Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev expressed his concern over the controversy. He said that he was deeply saddened to see the game being affected by politics. In an interview with India Today, Kapil Dev said that the players and the media should focus on the game and keep politics aside.
Kapil Dev presented his point of view
Kapil Dev said, “I just want to say that our responsibility, and the media’s responsibility as well, should be to focus on the game, not politics. Yes, the media has the job of exposing everything, but from a player’s perspective, I would like to see us focus on the game. This will improve the situation.”
Kapil Dev also expressed his opinion on the current state of Pakistan cricket. He said that the current team does not have the talent it did in the 1980s and 1990s. He said that Pakistan has given the world many great cricketers like Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Zahir Abbas, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis, but that level is nowhere to be seen today. He said that the current Pakistani team lacks even one percent of the talent it had in the past.
Overall, Kapil Dev’s message was clear: keep the game away from politics, and players should focus on hard work and play. He also said that it should be the duty of both players and media to focus on the beauty of cricket and the competitiveness of the game.
