Jediah Blades: Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been ruled out of the entire series due to a back injury. Scans revealed a recurrence of his old back problem. Left-arm fast bowler Jediah Blades has been included in the squad in his place. Blades is currently playing in the T20 series against Nepal, where he is already part of the West Indies white-ball team. He is now expected to make his red-ball debut against India.
Not only this, the West Indies have already suffered another setback. Key fast bowler Shamar Joseph has also been ruled out of the series due to injury. 22-year-old all-rounder Johan Lynn has been added to the squad in his place. The Caribbean team had hoped for Shamar Joseph to lead the fast bowling attack on the India tour, but his absence will impact the team’s strategy.
Cricket West Indies has confirmed that Shamar Joseph will now work on getting fit for the upcoming ODI and T20 series against Bangladesh, which begins on October 18. Meanwhile, all-rounder Jason Holder has also made himself unavailable for selection, having previously scheduled a medical procedure.
