Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to face off in the grand finale of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rajat Patidar is leading RCB, while Shreyas Iyer is captaining PBKS.
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both teams have gone into the final with the same playing XI they used in their previous matches. RCB secured their spot in the final by defeating PBKS in Qualifier 1, while PBKS bounced back with a commanding win over Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 to book their place.
Interestingly, neither side has won an IPL title despite making it to the finals in earlier seasons. Punjab Kings lost the 2014 final to Kolkata Knight Riders, while RCB fell short in the finals of 2009, 2011, and 2016.
How Much Will the Winners and Runners-Up Earn After the IPL 2025 Final?

No matter who wins tonight, history will be made — as the champions will be lifting their maiden IPL trophy. The winner of IPL 2025 will take home a prize money of INR 20 crores, while the runners-up will receive INR 12.50 crores. Additionally, all playoff-qualified teams will also be awarded cash prizes.
Gujarat Titans (GT), who were eliminated in the Eliminator match, will be awarded INR 6.5 crores. Mumbai Indians (MI), who lost to PBKS in Qualifier 2, will receive INR 7 crores. The players who win the Orange Cap and Purple Cap will each get a reward of INR 10 lakhs.
This season guarantees a new IPL champion, as neither finalist has won the title before. So far, seven different teams have claimed the IPL trophy since the tournament began.
Interestingly, RCB and PBKS have had an evenly matched rivalry in the tournament’s history. Out of 36 head-to-head encounters, both teams have won 18 matches each. In IPL 2025, they faced each other three times before the final — with RCB winning twice and PBKS once.
