Herschelle Gibbs says English bowlers were allowed to bowl without putting any pressure on any Indian batsman.
Former South Africa cricket team batsman Herschelle Gibbs has hit out at the Indian cricket team, saying that the reason for their defeat in the third Test match against England at Lord’s was ‘lack of intent’. Chasing a target of 193 runs, the Indian top-order batsmen did not perform well.

However, Ravindra Jadeja scored a brilliant half-century to take his team close to the target, but the visitors lost by 22 runs. Gibbs gave his honest review of India’s performance on social media and made a harsh ‘intent’ comment on the batsmen.
India lost the match due to lack of intent: Herschelle Gibbs
Herschelle Gibbs wrote on x, “Finally India came close to victory, but due to lack of intent India lost the match.” Although initially many users thought the comment was for Jadeja, Gibbs later clarified in a response that he was actually talking about Jasprit Bumrah.
Responding to a conversation in the same thread, Gibbs said, “Bumrah has the most runs in an over in Test cricket… where was that intent today?”
Gibbs was talking about Bumrah’s record of most runs in an over during a Test match, when he conceded 35 runs in an over of England fast bowler Stuart Broad. However, he failed to repeat the feat on Sunday.
After a close 22-run defeat to England in the third Lord’s Test, Indian captain Shubman Gill expressed pride in his team’s performance despite falling short in chasing the target of 193 runs, and pointed out how they could have done better in batting in the final session of the fourth day.
Despite a brilliant half-century from Ravindra Jadeja and strong performances from lower-order batsmen Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, India suffered their most disappointing defeat in Test cricket. After struggling from a difficult position of 82/7, Team India fell short in chasing the target of 193 runs and lost by 22 runs.
Now the fourth Test match will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23. It is worth noting that the Three Lions are currently leading 2-1 in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
